ML 370 G5 and Windows 2008 R2 Upgrade
I have a ML370 G5 - 2.33GHz with 16GB of RAM, and a P400 and P800 controller running Windows 2003 R2 standard x64. I have the latest HP Support Pack applied. The only software other than the standard HP management tools is SQL 2005 Standard. I tried to upgrade to Windows 2008 R2 Standard x64 using the software assurance DVD provided to me from Microsoft. The Microsoft Upgrade Advisor said the server would support 2008 R2 without any changes. The initial setup of the 2008 upgrade said there were not any problems. HP's website says this server can run Win 2008 as did the support tech when I called HP support. The upgrade ran through completely and then rebooted to start Win 2008 for the first time. I then got a message saying the upgrade was not successful and that the previous OS would be restored. Absolutely no reason was given and it automatically rolled me back to 2003. When I logged in the first time after the roll back it displayed a popup stating that I need to check the upgrade advisor to make sure the server is compatible. Any ideas what might be causing this upgrade failure?

Re: ML 370 G5 and Windows 2008 R2 Upgrade
hi,
strange situation, in our company we don't trust Microsoft so much, this is the reason why we never upgrade the os, if we need to have a newer version, the system and data will be backup, and the os will be installed from scratch.
if its possible install it from scratch

Says it should be supported, doesn't say if upgrading is supported.
Have you checked with Microsoft if maybe they can help out?
