ML 370 dual CPU upgrade
I want to upgrade my proliant ml370 G1 from 1 to 2 processors. I have all the necessary parts. I tried to find on hp web site some tech doc but did not found much about it. My question is, is there something special to do before adding the processor ? Can i just add the CPU kit and restart the server ?
Thx !

Re: ML 370 dual CPU upgrade
1) install cpu and processor power module
2) cpus must have identical speed and cache size
3) if you installed windows (i assume you have windows) with smart start then everything is done
oh, not yet: go into HW configuration once (F10) and save your settings (changes are not required)
-------------------------------------------
if you did not install with smartstart you will have to do the following:
4) upgrade HAL to multiprocessor HAL (see microsoft homepage)
5) go into systempartition (F10 after post) and press CTRL-A while in main menu
6) serach for an item called "apic" or "mps" settings
7) select "full table"
-----------------------------------------
that├В┬┤s it. check these items anyway !!!
if you do not run windows please install the multiprocessor kernel - the rest is identical.
best regards from germany

Re: ML 370 dual CPU upgrade
This is what you need to do:
Installing Support for Multiple CPUs
1. Click Start, point to Settings, point to Control Panel, and then click System.
2. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
3. Double-click to expand the Computer branch. Note the type of support that you currently have.
4. Double-click the computer type that is listed under the Computer branch, click the Drivers tab, click Update Driver, and then click Next.
5. Click Display a list of known drivers for this device, and then click Show all hardware of this device class.
6. Click the appropriate computer type (do not change from non-ACPI to ACPI computer types), click Next, and then click Finish.
