Re: ML 530 no video output
Try to test it with a different monitor and to run a ROM recovery.

Re: ML 530 no video output
Now there's another problem. Seems, I'm too dumb.
I can't find out how to configure logical drives to install OS on.
Controller is Smart Array 5300.
Also tried to use onboard controller, but ended up with no success. I cannot find, where can I set SCSI and RAID settings.

Re: ML 530 no video output
From RBSU, make sure the SA5300 is the boot controller, then, boot using SmartStart and run ACU (Array Configuration Utilities)

----------
1) wtf is RBSU? How can I get to it? There are not any messages at startup present asking me to press a key (f1,del, ctrl-a.. whatever) so I haven't got any idea asking Please note, that probably I don't have all the CD's/flopies, so if possibble please advice me where to download them!
2) Which smartstart to run? When I tried to run ACU from latest smartstart, it didn't find any supported controllers.

Re: ML 530 no video output
Here is the Proliant Support Pack 7.50A (PSP), this is to be installed after the OS.
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/23301.html
The SmartStart CD 7.40
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/23318.html
Here is a SmartStart user guide (PDF).
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00372139/c00372139.pdf
And here are your SA 5300 drivers and istallation instructions.
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/23379.html
If that is the SmartStart that you are using, then perform a normal windows instal without SmartStart, follow the SA5300 drivers installation instructions.
Let me know if it help you or any other doubt

I'm still in doubt. How can I install OS if there are no hard drives configured. I have 5 hard drives. I want all of them to be connected to Smart Array 5300. I want them all to be bonfigured as one drive. I don't have any other hard drives so I want to do all drive things before OS, but how???
Hot to tell system to boot from SA5300?

Re: ML 530 no video output
RBSU = ROM based setup utilty. But if your server is an older model, it won't have RBSU (if the server is beige-coloured). I am not sure if newer firmware for the Smart Array Controller enables you to configure the array from the Controller's BIOS using F8. (do you get an F8-prompt during POST from the Smart Array controller?) If not, you would probably need to boot from SmartStart CD 5.50 so you can use the Array Configuration Utility. Then when the array is defined, and the SA5300 is set as the primary boot controller, you should be able to install your OS.
You can download SmartStart 5.50 here:

Re: ML 530 no video output
Darn. Maybe the version of SCU on SS 5.50 is not new enough to recognise the SA5300.
Can you run Array Configuration Utilty from SmartStart?
You can get the latest version of SCU here:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/13227.html
Versions 2.53A and later should have support for the SA5300, according to the revision history. You would need to create 4 floppies and boot from the first one. Then it should be possible to set the SA5300 as your boot controller.

Stephen
