ML 570G3 Server Memory Upgrade

Hi,

We have ML570 G3 server currently with 4GB (8x512) dimm in memory board. New to slot limitation of max of 8 slot in memory board, I have another newly purchased memory Kingston 4GB (4x1GB) specifically for HPML570, is it possible to replace the 4 512MB dimm in me memory board and replace it with 4x1GB dimm and have a total of 6GB memory? This is to have the additional memory in place until I have extra memory board to install all 8x512MB in one board and 4x1GB in another board. Please enlightened me on on this, just to make sure before I do upgrade the memory.

Thanks,
Jun

Hi,

Kingston DIMMs are not supported on ProLiants. Be sure they have HP badge and compare the parts with these, taken from Quickspecs :

Following are memory options available from HP:

Re: ML 570G3 Server Memory Upgrade

Hi, the Kingston that we purchase are compatible with ML570G3-G4 and was recommended by our HP supplier. I am wrong in telling that the memory board had 8 slots, actually it is only 6 slots. Our current config have 4 HP512MB into first 4 slot and 2 HP1GB in two remaining slot, since I still do not have additional memory board I just removed the 4 512MB and put the two original 1GB in the first two slots and the 4 newly purchase Kingston 1GB into remaining 4GB. It is now fully functional and my OS now also recognized the 6GB after some minor changes in the boot.ini file. Thanks for all your answer and suggestions.
