ML110 G4 : Add SATA disk problem
OS installed is Windows Server 2003.
After adding another 500GB SATA HDD, I set it as a SIMPLE VOLUME with the Raid Utility but in the windows disk management it is not shown.
Same result when removing the SIMPLE VOLUME from the Raid utility.
What I'm missing?
Thanks.
The BIOS and RAID firmware are up to date.

Re: ML110 G4 : Add SATA disk problem
ACU did not detect any supported controllers in your system.
The controler is detected as:
Adaptec Embedded Serial ATA SmartRAID
and the disk drive is:
ADAPTEC RAID 1 SCSI Disk Device

If so, 1,2 are set to RAID1.
tried 3 and 4 (currently at 4).
there are no more available connections on the motherboard.

Re: ML110 G4 : Add SATA disk problem
Do I have to buy a PCI SATA controller to solve this broblem?
Is that the solution for any ML110 "server"?

Re: ML110 G4 : Add SATA disk problem
Have you checked for any updated windows drivers? Both for the raid controller from the HP site and any disk drive drivers from the HP and Microsoft sites. If you can configure the drive within the raid controller then it may be a problem confined to windows only.

Re: ML110 G4 : Add SATA disk problem
The quickspecs say that the 500GB SATA drive is FIO/CTO only (factory-integrated-only/configuration-to-order). See second note on top of page 10.
Don't know what they have to do at the factory to integrate the 500GB disk. I would not be surprised if they unlock something at the BIOS or whatever.
Does this server have a smartstart disc? If so are you able to try it and see if there is something there that might help?

Re: ML110 G4 : Add SATA disk problem
as I understand from the quickspec is that this HDD can be supported only if installed by the factory.
Tomorrow, I'm going to install PCI SATA controller.
Thanks for your help.
