ML110 G4 CD Drive

I cannot get this server (ML110 G4) to boot from the CD drive. The BIOS will not recognize that it is installed on the IDE port (there's no plus sign next to it when I look at boot devices). I've changed the IDE Master & Slave settings to CD/DVD drive in the Drive Configuration page but it still won't recognize or boot from it.

If I boot from a DOS diskette and load a CD driver, I can use the CD drive.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Re: ML110 G4 CD Drive

Hi Paul,

Like suggested, update system ROM(will maybe solve the problem). Deattach if there are any USB devices to test.

Be sure you use the standard or :

CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive Option Kit 331346-B21
HP DVD+R/RW 8X HH 383974-B21
HP ProLiant 48X CD 398972-B21
DVD ROM Drive 16x 217053-B21

one of these, so there are no problems...

Pac

Re: ML110 G4 CD Drive

Hi,

Thanks for your responses. I had already updated the System ROM, that didn't help.

After I installed SBS 2003 (by starting with XP Pro boot diskettes) it will now boot from the CD drive. When I go into the BIOS (F10) there is still no plus sign next to the CD/DVD drive but when it's done with POST, it looks to see if there's a bootable CD in the drive?

It's working for now. If it starts acting up again, I will try resetting the CMOS settings.

Thanks for your help.

Paul
