ML110 G5 Firmware upgrade failure

Something happened during the firmware upgrade and server will not boot. Beep codes heard: 1 long, 2 short. ROM got blown up, yes. Is this recoverable?

Procedure to re-do ROMPaq update or go back a step?

Server was right out of the box, too. Brand new.

Re: ML110 G5 Firmware upgrade failure

I did the CMOS reset, per the manual.

I updated the system ROM using the ROMPaq listed for this model server.

I need to know how to recover a failed ROM update.

Re: ML110 G5 Firmware upgrade failure

Ok. The fix is found in the manual for updating the ROM.

1. A USB floppy must be attached, with a floppy prepared with the version of ROMPaq you want.

2. Set "ROM Recovery" jumper on the motherboard into the "Recovery" mode. This jumper will vary from MB to MB.

3. Boot, and the system will read the floppy, and re-load the ROMPaq. Entire update took 25 minutes.

4. Return the jumper to the "normal" position on the MB.

System is recovered.
