ML110 G6 DEP disabled from BIOS

Hy,
I have a lot of problems with the hardware Data Execution Protection (DEP) from my ML110 G6 server. I want to disable this function from the BIOS but I don't have the option (Disable Bit exection).
There is a solution to disabled this, or a Bios update to do this ¿?

Thx.

Re: ML110 G6 DEP disabled from BIOS

Hi Titi,

there isn't any option in system bios to disable DEP as per user guide.

Why do you want to disable DEP?

if you are trying to setup VMware on ML110 G6 platform then it is not support as per OS compatiblity matrix.

thanks,
Aftab

In system bios I don't have any option to disable DEP.
I want to disable DEP because my explorer crash many time and I receive Data Execution Prevention error.

Hi Titi,

thanks for the information.

DEP option is not available in system bios. however, we can update the system bios to see whether it makes any difference.

also check this microsoft article which talks about DEP settings in OS.

Until version 1.75 of the iLO Online Flash Component can be applied, perform the following to disable DEP and run the iLO flash upgrade:

In Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Click "Start."
Click "Control Panel."
Click the "System" icon.
Click the "Advanced" tab.
In the "Performance" area, click "Settings."
Click the "Data Execution Prevention" tab.
Click "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except for those I select," then click "Add" to add the programs that should not use the DEP feature.
Click "Apply" then "OK" and "OK."

Re: ML110 G6 DEP disabled from BIOS

I don't want to disable Software DEP, because it doesn't help (I tested, but the problem remains), the problem is the Hardware DEP, which can be disabled ONLY from BIOS.
