ML110 G6 SATA NHP with P212/256MB RAID Card plus SAS/SATA 4 port Cable Kit 487734-B21

Hi

Let’s say the customer wishes to buy an ML110 G6 (SATA NHP) Model with 4 SATA Hard Drives, but they want to do RAID 5 using an optional P212/256MB RAID Controller card.

Now my question is, is it advisable for the customer to buy the Non-Hot Plug Internal SAS/SATA 4 port Cable kit (P/N 487734-B21) to connect the 4 NHP SATA Drives to the P212 Controller? That is to connect the:

4 SATA NHP Drives to the ----> SAS/SATA 4 port Cable Kit 487734-B21 master connector  to the ----> P212/256MB SAS controller board?

HP only mention the 487734-B21 cable kit with SAS non-hotplug drives.

I've tried to confirm this using the HP enterprise configurator, but oddly this doesn't force you to purchase 487734-B21 if you specify the P212 with the SAS NHP drives. That could be due to the configurator not being very intelligent though!

Thanks bro, but factually, yup we need to recommend this cable for customers with SATA NHP Drives on an ML110 G6 (SATA Model) if they chose to purchase the P212/256MB for the purpose of RAID 5 implementation.

Reason is that, for ML110 G6 SATA model, there are only bundled cables provided and connected via the Integrated (6 ports) SATA controller, and you cannot removed these cables to connect to the P212 controller.

Now, in order to connect the SATA drives to the newly inserted P212, it needs this cable (487734-B21) to connect the master connector to the P212 then the other end of the cable (4-port) to the NHP SATA drives

Can you tell me if the cable # 457692-B21 is the same? I cannot see the 487734-B21 cable in distribution anywhere.

Hi guys is anyone able to confirm this I have just spent 45 minutes on the phone to HP and the person I spoke to couldnt even give me a part number for this.

I have the HP P212/256 Smart Aray Controller (462834-B21) with the 256 Cache Upgrade.

I need to connect 4x SATA II HDD and just need clarification that 487734-B21 is the correct part for this.

I just got off they phone with HP and they suggested PN: 576925-001. After looking at a diagram, this cable does in fact plug into the SAS port on the controller then expands to 4 SATA connectors on the other end.

I have ML110 G6 server with P212 array adapter.

To conect SATA non hot plug hard disks I use 487734-B21 cable.

It supports up to 4 hard disks.

does anyone have an install guide for Cable Kit 487734-B21. I don't see how this 30pin Sata type connector plugs into the P212 card.

I have atached a photo of the card and cable.
Any info would be great.
