ML110 G6 raid failure

Hello Guys,

I've got a problem with array 1+0 on ML110 G6. There are two disk 500GB configured as raid 1+0.

It works fine for a year or more. Now my client ask me to move this server to another location so I've carry it by a car. In the new office the server doesn't boot at all. The array status says recovering but nothing happends.

I would consider shutting down the server, opening it up, removing and reseating all memory and expansion cards, removing and reseating all drives, and try again.

Also, consider booting with only one drive in at a time.  If it was set up as a RAID1 (only 2 drives) then it should boot on either. It might be that you have a failed drive and somehow it isn’t proceeding in the boot process. Whenever a server, that may have been running for a long time, is shut down and moved there is a high probability of a drive failure and also that the internal components (memory, expansion boards) get loosened up. Reseat everything and, if that doesn’t work, try with one drive at a time.

If this system is using the embedded B110i, the second disk more than likely will not be bootable.  The B110i is a software defined RAID controller and the actual RAID function is controlled by a driver.   For Gen9 and Gen10 servers that support UEFI, there is a tchnical paper on how to make the drives using the embedded software RAID controller boot from either disk. Not saying it can't be done on this old controller, but it is more complicated to make work.  To recover this system, a rescue image will probably be needed to boot the system before data can be recoverd from the mirror drive (assuming the first disk is the failed drive)

The OS isn't booting anyway. From Ubuntu livecd there are no partitions on those drives.

Are those disks erased and theres nothing on them?
