ML110 G7 can't see additional drive
Hi,
I purchased a HP LFF SATA 500Gig drive but after installing it into the drive bay (#2, original 250Gig in bay #1) it only sees the original in bay 1. How do I get BIOS to see the additional drive? I've looked at F9 etc at startup at the HP screen but there's nothing about drive setup.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: ML110 G7 can't see additional drive
You don't have to configure anything in BIOS to detect hot plug hard drive.
It should have been detected if
1. Hard drive is not faulty
2. Backplane bay is connected to the controller via appropriate cable
3. Hard drive is supported for this server and controller
Troubleshooting:
1. Shut down the server and plug in the new hard drive in bay 1 and check if it gets detected.
Also, share with us, the name of the tool where you found that the disk is not recognized
Thanks

Re: ML110 G7 can't see additional drive
Hi,
It seems that the computer only sees one drive. It sees the original 250G in bays #1 to #4, and can see the new 500G drive also in bays #1 to #4 but when 2 drives are installed it only sees the original 250G.
Do the drives have to be of the same capacity? Is it something to do with the Maintenance Switch? I'm confused. :-(
The new drive is a HP LFF 500GB 7.2K NHP 3.0bps, part number 458941-B21.
Any help appreciated, thanks.

Re: ML110 G7 can't see additional drive
Is the previous hard drive a third party drive?
