ML110 HDD Lights

I cannot seem to find any stern knowledge about the warning lights that are on the HDD's of the server. I probably am looking in the wrong place however could anyone shed some light on the following.

Out of all the disks I have the follwoing lights showing up.

1: Solid Amber Light
2: Blue flashing Light
3: Flashing Amber Light
4: Flashing Amber Light

What do they mean?

Thanks in advance.

Re: ML110 HDD Lights

You did not specify the generation number of your server (i.e. ML110 Gn, where n = the generation number). If the generation number is nowhere to be seen on your system, the system may be generation 1 version.

Blue LED are used in Proliant family as "beacon" or location indicator lights. They can usually be turned on and off by software.

Here's a link to Server Operations and Maintenance Guide for ML110 (generation 1). Page 102 lists the meanings of different indications for SATA disks:

Here's the same guide for ML110 G2, see page 79:

Any kind of amber light at all on a disk seems to indicate either a predictive or actual failure, so looks like your server is in very poor shape, no matter which model it is...

Re: ML110 HDD Lights

My apologies for lack of specifics. The server is just a ML110 I cannot see the generation number so it is probably a little older than most.

I replaced the PSU and all the HDD's recently and I am still getting amber flashing lights on the drives. The server runs and does not have any problems, but the amber lights suggest something is wrong. Any ideas?

The blue light has stopped showing now.

As said already, bad SMART status, predictive disk failure most likely.
