ML110 Sata question
Hello,
Is it possible to put non-HP SATA disks in a ML110 with 6-port SATA RAID controller? I want to create 2 RAID-1 volumes with 800Gb capacity each.
I want to use 4 Seagate 400Gb disks, but I'm not sure if it will work. I also saw that HP has 400Gb disks (PM254A), should I use these?
I hope someone can help me out.
Regards,
Marco

Re: ML110 Sata question
This server has a drive backplane doesn't it? If it does, then I don't believe you'll be able to use the 3rd party drives. The same applies to the HP drives you mentioned. Only certain drives are going to have this tray. I may be wrong about the backplane though.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: ML110 Sata question
Hi Marco,
HP generally use Maxtor drives for SATA configurations (MSA20 and most small SATA equiped ML series systems too). The 6 port SATA raid controller is an Adaptec model with HP firmware.
I have tried other third party drives in SATA systems and they work fine.
I hope this helps.
