ML110 or ML115 - What CPUs for Hyper V?

Hi,

I see from HP's compatibilitry matrix that the ML series are now compatible with 2008R2 Hyper V, however it is unclear which versions of these servers are compatible as they have a variety of CPU options.

Does anyone know what with what CPUs the ML110 or ML115 is compatible with Hyper V? E.g. the Opteron 1210?

Hi Anthony,

Per Microsoft's site, Intel processors with Intel-VTx support are compatible. From Intel's site here:

This includes all processors currently offered for the ML110 G6 except the Celeron G1101:
X34xx series
i3-530/540
G6950

I could not find a similar list for AMD processors but I do see that each of the Opteron and Athlon processors listed here:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13013_div/13013_div.HTML#Configuration Information-Factory Integrated Models

supports virtualization via the AMD-V feature (same as Intel-V).

Thanks, but just wondering if any has any experience of what CPUs work, I know Dell only list their Xeon versions as compatible even though som of the other CPUs they use in the same servers technicaly support VT?

Page 3, check for the word HT next to the processor, HP states it will support Hyper-V

HT seems to signify that it will support Hyper Threading not Hyper V.

yes, you are correct... my mistake (wow..im certified MCTS for hyper-v and scvmm...and confused hyper-v with hyper treading....what a...) i just checked for the word hyper....

hyper-v needs hardware-assisted virtualization (Intel VT or AMD-V) technology.

regading the Intel xeon processors, the four of them supports hyper-v
