ML110G3 SCSI and problem with instalation

I have to instal WinXp on ML110 and I have a problem.
During instalation I presing F6 and give floppy (USB-Floppy or USB-Key with bios emulation) with drivers (LSI 1030-IT). Server recognize drive and format partition for me but after it ask me to insert the driver disk into drive a: and stops (not riding from floppy).
Instalation on SATA was successfull.

This issue i have seen before. You need to connect a floppy drive internally in the system. USB floppy's won't work in the BIOS.

Re: ML110G3 SCSI and problem with instalation

Hi,

We can try with usb even though it is not inlisted option
Refer to this for same.
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/platforms/usb-support.html

Where as XP is not supported and it a painfull option to go for installation with the same.

Note:
The issue you are facing is due to floppy (USB one) and check with your usb drive. If it is usb1 thencheck with usb2.
Becaseu same issue was faced by me and i have suggested to used the diff USB.

Even though it is working with other system, which will be same in you case also. i suggest you to check with alternate usb version. If you have usb1 then use usb2.

But i think usb1 will work.

Hope this post helped .

Re: ML110G3 SCSI and problem with instalation

Hi all.
Same problem to me.
I'm trying to install Win 2003 SBS Standard Portuguese.

I do press F6 during instalation, with one non HP Floppy USB 1.1 Drive.
It "loads" the driver of the Embedded raid controler, but later before the instalation begins it will ask again to insert the floppy disc with the driver.

This time the floppy does'n do anything, even not try to read.

Just keep showing the same message: Instert Floppy drive whith the drivers and press ENTER.

Just don't know how to do it!!

Many thanks.

Re: ML110G3 SCSI and problem with instalation

OK I found a solution :).

1) I have instaled system on SATA disk.
2) Now I can install SCSI drivers on clean XP installation
3) Clone SATA to SCSI disk
4) Disconecting SATA
5) Boot from install CD and run repair instalation (fixboot, fixmbr). I had to put ntldr, ntdetect.com and copy symmpi.sys (from USBKey) to c:\Ntbootdd.sys to SCSI disk
6) And its working for me :)

Sorry for my terrible English.

Re: ML110G3 SCSI and problem with instalation

As Prashant said the issue is when using USB Drives that are USB 1.1 compliant.

I have come across similar issue but it works if you use a USB 2 compliant Floppy Drive.
