ML115 HD Compatability
Hi,
I'm hoping you can help me. I've just ordered an HP ProLiant ML115 G5 Server (470065-018) and was planning to install a pair of 1TB SATA Samsung Spinpoint HDs that I already have. I just noticed though that on the spec sheet at http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/sm/WF06b/15351-15351-241434-3328424-3328424-3683705-3919424.html it says the max capacity is 3TB using 4 x 750GB drives. Does this mean it will not support my 1TB drives?
Sorry if this is a silly question but this is the first time I've actually bought a server like this.
Thanks,
Stephen

Re: ML115 HD Compatability
storage capacity will depend of the storage controller and your ML has an HP Embedded 4 Port SATA Controller with Embedded RAID (0,1,5)
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13013_div/13013_div.HTML#Storage
according to this the max capacity hdd it support is 750GB 3G SATA 7.2K
but you already have the drives, plug them in and try....

Re: ML115 HD Compatability
Hi Stephen,
Did the HDD's work? I too am looking at adding a pair of mirrored 1tb's.
I have the ML115 G5.
Many thanks
Gavin

Re: ML115 HD Compatability
Hi Gavin,
Yup it all worked fine. Initially I put my two 1TB drives in with no problems. I then added a third 1TB drive and set it up in RAID5 and have about 1.8TB storage.
My drives are Samsung Spinpoints.
From what I remember there are 6 SATA ports and 4 of them are RAID, but when it was supplied the 250GB system drive was on one of the RAID ports. So I moved it to one of the standard ports, leaving 4 ports free for RAID. I think you have to change a couple of BIOS settings to do this, but can't remember what they were without looking.
Hope that helps!
