ML150 G2 SATA HDD with pedictive failure, replacement steps

I have an ML150 G2 with a Hot Plug SATA disk drive that has a predictive failure, is it safe to pull the drive and replace it or since it is not failed do I need to shut the server down or take any special steps ?
Does it matter if it is RAID 5 or a mirror set.
Thanks.

Hi,
if you have a Hot plug raid controller, hot plug bay and a raid 5 or raid 5 configured, you can replace the failed or pre-failed drive without shut-down the server.
after of that, you have only to wait for the complete raid rebuild process.

bye.

Thanks, it turns out this is a mirror set not raid 5, I will try it and update results.

If it is a RAID 1 or 0+1 (mirror) with hot plug drives then you can replace this drive at any time.
Keep learning!!!

Once on site I found this was a raid configuration using the Adaptec SCSI controller so i had to reboot and go into the Adaptec menu and rebuild the array brfore rebooting. About an hour of downtime.
