ML150 G2 server really slow
I got a new ML150 G2 (SCSI hot-swap model) server last week and something is wrong with it, but I'm not sure exactly what.
Basically, the machine is very, very slow. It feels like I'm using a Pentium 100 MHz instead of a 3 GHz.
I tried to install 3 versions of Linux but it was so slow I gave up.
I was finally able to install and run Windows 2003. There is a noticeable delay when doing anything. For example, the properties box of My Computer will appear after about 5 seconds.
I checked all the cables and the RAM and everything seems to be OK. I put the HD in another slot but that didn't change anything.
This morning I downloaded the Insight Diagnostic tools and it took at least 20 minutes to boot and after a while it told me that connection was refused to 127.0.0.1:2xxx (sorry, don't remember the exact port number).
So, any idea on what is wrong and what should I do?
I suspect a hardware problem.
Thanks!
Simon

SCSI HDD.
I downloaded the latest firmware update on HP's site.
And yes, I've been having that problem since day one.

Re: ML150 G2 server really slow
it seems more likely to be a Hardware fault however you could try to update the BIOS firmware on the server as this might cause the system to run slow.
We have come across such issue in the past and BIOS ROM update has fixed some of the issues.

Re: ML150 G2 server really slow
well I think this
"I downloaded the latest firmware update on HP's site."
it's because you update the System ROM if not the link is above from savesh

Re: ML150 G2 server really slow
The HDD is an HP model compatible with that server?

Re: ML150 G2 server really slow
I installed the update you mentioned.
But it didn't fix the problem.

Re: ML150 G2 server really slow
The HDD is the HDD that shipped with the server.
The disk is a 72 GB, SCSI 320 10k disk.
How can I see the actual model/part number? It's written on the disk?

Re: ML150 G2 server really slow
Thanks for the update.
You could check the Model number or the spare part number on the HDD itself.
Model number normally starts with BD or BF
