ML150 G3 SATA transfer rate

I tried to install a 640GB SATA drive with a 3GB/s transfer rate and the server would not boot.
It would continue trying to post with nothing ever showing on the screen.
The BIOS revision 2008.10.27 says it was modified to allow 3GB/s transfer rates. If I jumper the drive to 1.5GB/s it boots fine and recognizes the drive.

Anyone else experience this?

Also FYI I had 1GB memory (2-512MB in slots 1 and 3). I added 2 1GB sticks in slots 2 and 4 and it would not boot. Moved the 1GB to 1 and3 and the 512 to 2 and 4 and it now boots OK.

Re: ML150 G3 SATA transfer rate

The suggested hard disks show that the SATA hard disks are 1.5GB and SAS hard disk as 3GB

Re: ML150 G3 SATA transfer rate

I saw that but the latest bios revision says...
Version: 2008.10.27 (A) (19 Nov 2008)
Fixes
Resolved an issue with some memory DIMMs that could cause the system hang.

Enhancements
Added support for Generation 2 (3.0 Gb/s) SATA Hard Drives. This revision of the System ROM is required for proper operation of the embedded SATA solution when a Generation 2 (3.0 Gb/s) SATA hard drive is installed in the server.
