ML150 g3 sever upgrade from 5050 to e5310

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if my ML150 G3 server which has a 5050 CPU in it can be upgraded to E5310 CPU? I have tried as it says on the site it can but the fans just stay on maximum and nothing on the display.

does the server have the latest System ROM?

check any LED?

you just using one CPU?

Just one CPU and BIOS Version/Date HP O07, 06/02/2007. Not sure if that is the most up to date and I have had problems finding the most recent. Maybe I am just stupid but I could not see it in the driver/ software updates and a link on another question in the forum points to a dead link. Lights wise the light is green on the front but I am not in the office now as it is 11PM here. If you can give me any help for things to check in the morning I would be most grateful.

The only 5310 supported in the server is a
Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processor E5310 ( 1.6 GHz, 1066 FSB) part 437903-B21
Really important, you cannot have a processor mismatch, only the stepping but this can be fix by flashing the latest BIOS to the System board
