My organization does not let me use all those whizbang tools that HP supplies and most of my servers are off-site. I am stuck finding it in the command prompt of Server 2003.

Remotely in Server 2003 I use the command prompt with the command: wmic ComputerSystem

You get a lot of nonsense but 3/4 of the way down you will see "Product ID: xxxxxx-xxx".

To get the serial number and HP Model in command prompt, use the command: wmic csproduct
the serial number will appear before the model.
