Are the hot-swap carriers required for HDD installation into the ML150G3?

Re: ML150G3 HDD Carrier

Hello Adam,

All hot-plug disks come with the carriers or caddy, just slide the disk into the drive bay.

Re: ML150G3 HDD Carrier

Oh, so they are suppose to be special drives.
They sent me regular SATA Seagate Barracuda drives in no special carrier. I ordered everything off CDW.ca and they said everything would be compatible, however they did send me unbuffered RAM when buffered is required so I should not have been suprised.
Now I have another 4 items to RMA
Thanks for the response

Re: ML150G3 HDD Carrier

this is a link to what i ordered
http://www.cdw.ca/shop/products/specs.aspx?EDC=1017870
it says 6-hot-swap bays so i would assume it is the hot-swap model, but I may be wrong.

Re: ML150G3 HDD Carrier

From the link the Pid is 399155-001 which is definitely a Hot Plug SAS Model.

To make full use of the features, you may want to opt for hot-plug disks.

Re: ML150G3 HDD Carrier

Thanks for the part no.
Do the hot-swappable HDDs come with the carrier for proper installation into the hot-swap bays? Is it the carrier itself that makes the HDDs hot swappable or are the HDDs themselves special?
