I received an advisory from HP (c01612429, 2/26/09) that says firmware must be updated on a number of SATA drive models, including the 500GB drive # GB0500EAFJH on our server.
I downloaded the recommended firmware update (cp009916.exe) which displays the correct drive model, but displays this message:
The software will not be installed on this system because the required hardware is not
present in the system or the software/firmware doesn't apply to this system.
Am I missing something? This advisory seemed to apply to all Proliants. Thanks...
Alan

Re: ML150G5 SATA drive firmware update?
It is using the embedded SATA RAID controller. I'm a bit confused - I thought it was a drive problem - do the drives only have the problem with specific controllers? It would be real bad if one of these drives suddenly quit.
