ML150G5 with ILO100 Problems

My customer has a pblm with the ILO100 in his ML150G5. It works fine for 2 weeks and then the ILO disapear. He must shutdown his server, remove the ILO, starts the server completely, shutdown again, put the ILO in the server, boot and then it works again for 2 weeks.Firmware is version 3.05.Is there no other solution to put in another ILO card in the server?
Thanks.

>>>and then the ILO disapear<<<

what do you mean?
does the ILO no longer responds when accessing through http:?
or do you mean the card disappears as management interface from the OS?

>>>Firmware is version 3.05<<<
there is some cooperation/dependency between the motherboard firmware, ILO firmware OS chipset driver, OS ILO management interface driver.
I would go from the PSP (proliant support pack) to update to a coherent set of software/firmware!

Re: ML150G5 with ILO100 Problems

Yes, the card disapear in OS.
When this happen, the client take out the ilo card, boot the server. Shutdown and put the ilo card again in the server. He does this every two weeks.
We will do the update from PSP. I will let you know if this works.
Thanks.

Re: ML150G5 with ILO100 Problems

We updated all whith smartstart cd 8.20.
There is no difference. It is not possible to connect to the ILO100. We still have to put out the ILO and insert it back.
Do you have another solution?
Thanks

Re: ML150G5 with ILO100 Problems

Removing the card starting the OS without card and then reinstalling the card is a strange thing to do.
it feels like a hardware problem in the ILO-card.

The ILO is supposed to work independantly of the OS.
Even with the OS shutdown (ofcourse system-power must be present) the ILO should function normally.

If the card "disappeared" from the OS and is NOT removed from the system, is there a bios message about the ILO when starting the system (like F8 for setup) or does this message also disappear?

If the card "disappeared" from the OS and is NOT removed from the system, can you still "ping" the network interface of the ILO?

Ludo
the card can also not be pingable when it's disapear on the Os and also not be reatchable
from the CIM.
