ML30 Gen9 Advice
Hi,
My employer has given me an ML30 Gen9 , it has 4Gb Ram, 4 Bay LFF cage with 1 x 500Gb and 2 x 1.0 Tb drives, it also has a P410 raid controller but nothing connected to it.
I have 32Gb of Pc4-2133 ram coming and a front fan as its not got one and is throwing up an error.
My question is can i connect the 2 x 1.0 Tb drives to the P410 ? and if so how ?.
I also have 4 x 500Gb drives that I could use.
It hasnt come with any form of Proliant support pack but I have been able to install the HPE raid controller manager so that it (Server 2012 R2) can see the P410.

Re: ML30 Gen9 Advice
Think i have answered my own question - The 4 bay LFF cage only comes with 1 x mini sas connector so it cannot support any form of raid.
There must be another cage that allows for raid but cannot find any part numbers.

Re: ML30 Gen9 Advice
Next issue...beginning to wonder why I bothered.
Memory arrived today 4 x 8Gb PC4-2133 ECC Unbufferred dimms. Installed them but on power up they are not recognised and the system halts.
Put 2 of the 8 Gb's in Channel 1 and the 4 Gb in Channel 2 , System boots up (only see's 4Gb though) Server 2012 loads fine and from Sys info see's 20 Gb but says only 4 Gb usable.
Absolutely no idea whats going on and so am bedinning to think that the ML30 is actually physically faulty ?

Re: ML30 Gen9 Advice
Hello,
SA P410 controller doesnтАЩt support with the ML30 Gen9 server.
Follow the below documents for more clarifications. I would suggest you install supported hardware components in the server.
HPE ProLiant ML30 Gen9 Server Quick space.

Re: ML30 Gen9 Advice
- Thanks for the reply.
So in essence as a private individual the ML30 is useless to me - a workstation would make more sense. At least I know where I need to be aiming for now.
