ML30 Gen9 + SmartArray P440 - System Overheating !!!! Please Help !!!
Hi,
I've recently installer an ML30 Gen9, this server is going to be a nightmare for me.
The onboard raid controller have really poor performances so after spending one week to get it working by updating firmware and drivers and doing a lot of testing with MySLQ I've bought a SmartArray P440.
I've connected it to the latest slot on the mainboard (PCIE 8X), battery cable to the mainboard and battery to the mainboard, the performance are fine but now the server randomly shutdown itself with this error:
Sysem Overheating (Temperature Sensor 9, Location I/O Board, Temperature 108C)
I'm attaching a screenshot, this controller is running firmware 6.30 Revision B.
Any help will be very appreciated.
Thanks!!!

Re: ML30 Gen9 + SmartArray P440 - System Overheating !!!! Please Help !!!
Hi,
thank you so much for the reply.
I've tried the BIOS - Version: 2.56_01-22-2018(B)(27 Feb 2018) before opening this thread without success, the setup give me an error during the image upload (if I remember correctly), tomorrow I'll try one more time (can I update if from the ILO?).
For the ILO4, I've not check so tomorrow I'll do the update.
I'll let you know....
Thanks!!!

Yes, both you can updat for ILO.
ILO-> Firmware-> Browse file
To BIOS will be necessary *flash file. OBS - necessary reboot after.
To ILO is necessary .BIN file.
Boths you need extract the .exe file to found the *.flash and *.bin file

Hi,
I've made the necessary upgrade but unfortunately the issue seems to be here.
Please check the attached screenshots of the ILO, I've also included some system informations with firmware versions.
Thank you so much.

Re: ML30 Gen9 + SmartArray P440 - System Overheating !!!! Please Help !!!
Just to be 100% sure of the phisycal connection I've used the PCIE SLOT 1 (the bottom one, it's an 8X slot).
I've connected both FBWC Option Cabling AND Smart Storage Option Cabling as you can see from the attached picture.
Is there something wrong with the connections?
I've not received any alert or something like from the system (except the Sensor 9 Temperature).
Thank you so much.
