ML310 Post Beep

Over the weekend I attempted to reinstall the OS on a new ML310 G4 server. It arrived preinstalled so I wanted to start from scratch. Anyway, I noticed that when it boots I get 2 beeps. Is this a parity issue? How do I fix this?

Thanks!

Re: ML310 Post Beep

I did reseat the modules - no change.

When I powered on the server I didn't notice any lights except for a couple green lights on the mother board.

I also noticed 2 error code messages - 1794 and 1792 when booting up. I did find information about those here..

Any input?

Re: ML310 Post Beep

Hi
You will have to update the controller firmware to the latest one. Or even better, use the firmware maintanence cd and update all the firmwares on the server.

It should take care of the issue.

Re: ML310 Post Beep

Akarsh -
I downloaded the firmware maintanence cd but this didn't help the issue. It ran a test to see what I need to update and it said my server is updated and nothing needed to be installed.

Any other options?

Re: ML310 Post Beep

Any ideas on this? I am no longer getting the post error codes but I still get the 2 beeps on start up. I ran the latest firmware maint. CD (7.9) and everything is installed and up to date.

hi Pete

are you still getting these errors on POST?
1794 and 1792

how many modules do you have?
processors?
any PCI Card?
or attached device?

you can access your windows?

and just in case check if all the switch on system maintenance switch are in OFF position. OK. see the attached picture. number 12 icon

Re: ML310 Post Beep

Thanks for the reply Karlo

I unplugged the server to check the system maint. switch and when I turned the server back on I got a 1793 code - Slot z Drive Array - Data in Array Accelerator has been Lost

Array Accelerator Battery Depleted

(Error message 1794 will also be displayed.)

I do not get the 1794 code though.

We have 4 - 1GB PC2-5300 memory modules. Array E200/128 Controller. Along with our NC320i PCI Express 10/100/1000T Gigabit network adapter we have an additional 394791-B21 HP NC373T PCIe MFN 1000T Gig Adptr. The processor is Dual-Core Intel├В┬о Xeon Processor 3050 (2.13GHz/1066MHz 1x2MB L2 cache)

Any thoughts?

Re: ML310 Post Beep

Hi Pete

some recommended troubleshooting steps
1.
reseat all components
I mean processor, memory modules, PCI Cards, Power Supply.
and see what you get

2. minimum conf
just 2 memory modules
no PCI cards

3. clear NVRAM
--
- Power off server, unplugged the power cable.
- Open the server.
- Look for system Maintenance Switch
- Switch number 6, put it ON
- Power on the server.
- leave for 2 minutes
- Power off the server and plugged the power cable
- Power on the server.

during all this check if you get any amber light on system board, and also check beep codes

I have a question that server only lets one processor right?

and something else for this error 1793 check this page
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/J6369-90037/apcs01.html

is your server in warranty?
