ML310 Recovery of logical drive

I have inherited a Proliant ML310 server with one disk. This server was restarted yesterday and the following entry was written to the Event Viewer system log.

Recovery of logical drive 1, configured on
Array Controller in slot 3, was aborted while rebuilding physical drive with DEVICE ID 0 on Port 1 due to an unrecoverable write error. The physical drive reporting the error is DEVICE ID 0 on Port 1.

The following is also reported with the diagnostic utility:

Array Diagnostic Utility Version 7.50.16.0
Array Diagnostic Utility Inspection Report Version 7.50.9.0

Date/Time: Tuesday, September 30, 2008 10:05:52AM
Computer Model: HP Server

Is anyone able to confirm the disk must be replaced and cannot be recovered from this status?

Thank you
