ML310 SCSI RAID5 Upgrade

I'm trying to upgrade my ML310 from Single HDD to RAID5, it currently has Win2003SBS on a single 72Gb SCSI HDD connected to the standard LSi Logic U320 SCSI Controller.

My Plan was to fit a 641SA with 3 Additional SCSI Drives, Create a 3xHDD logical drive, boot with the original HDD and Mirror to the new RAID5 Logical Drive, then format the original drive and add into the RAID5 to make a single 4x72Gb HDD Logical RAID5 Drive.

My Problem starts when I connect in a 641 Smart Array to the back of the SCSI Chassis.

The Original Drive wont boot into windows, with inaccessable boot device errors.

Is there any way I can do this without having to start a fresh install of SBS.

Any Help is greatly appreciated. Cheers

Jim:

The easiest thing to probably do is grab an image of the system with a utility like Ghost, or RDeploy from RDP, remove the single drive, put in the 641, create the array and drop the image back onto the new logical driver.

The only issue you will have is you need to install the 641 before hand so that your OS recognizes it. Load drivers then take the image.
