Hi,
I have just purchased 2x 500 GB and 2x 2TB SATA HDD for my ML310e Gen8 v2 Server. somehow in the ACU when I boot up, the physical device detected are just the two 500 GB HDD not the 2x 2 TB HDD.
Why is that happening ?
I can see that when the server booting, the 2x 2 TB HDD when inserted shows the green led spinning.

Re: ML310e Gen8 v2 Server cannot detect 2 TB SATA HDD in ACU ?
Hi,
Have you got this fixed?
If 2x 2TB SATA HDD are not getting detected in ACU, I would suggest to switch the hard drives between the slots for example, put 2x 2TB SATA HDD into the slots which has 500GB and vice versa.
You will come to know if this is an issue with slot or backplane or cables.
Thank You!

Re: ML310e Gen8 v2 Server cannot detect 2 TB SATA HDD in ACU ?
ok, after second look, it seems that the drive is SAS not SATA ;-/
so I guess, this drive is not compatible with the current controller.
what are my options to make the drive working in this server ?

Re: ML310e Gen8 v2 Server cannot detect 2 TB SATA HDD in ACU ?
Hi,
This server supports SAS drives, SATA drives, SAS SSDs and SATA SSDs. From what you say it appears that the hard drives are not detected by the controller. Swap working hard drives in the slots where the non-working hard drives are present and the non-working drives into working drive slots and check if they are detected. Ensure that they arre seated correctly. This would help isolate the issue to either the hard drive or the hard drive cage.

SolutionHi,
If its B120i controller then SAS is not supported.
Either use SATA hard drives or use a different Smart Array controller which supports both SAS/SATA.

Re: ML310e Gen8 v2 Server cannot detect 2 TB SATA HDD in ACU ?
How can I add 2 TB HDD to HP ML310e Gen8
Client bought this server a few years ago and it is getting full 2 x 500GB SATA Mirrored.
They just bought 2 x 2TB SATA Drives (Compatible to this server) to boost the storage.
Can you assist in adding these new disks so the raid configure where it will be 2.5TB mirrored please.
