ML330 (G1)

We have a CPQ ML330-G1 with a server board/expansion card. I have removed the card (I think it is faulty) and inserted seperate PCI cards (NIC/Graphic/SCSI). When switching on I get the 800 error warning me that it needs the servewr board in slot 3, and goes no futher.

How can I set the mb not to look for the card in slot 3 anymore?

Thanks!

Re: ML330 (G1)

Hi,

I don't think you can set it. Found some notes about the server feature board:

The card is installed in PCI slot 3, which is the first 32-bit slot and the first slot addressed by the system ROM.
The server feature card must be installed in slot 3 for the ProLiant ML330 to complete POST.

Looks like there's no way around it. What makes you think your feature board is faulty?

Re: ML330 (G1)

Thank you Stephen!

The card might be OK, but the LGILogic scsi controller seems to be faulty. We've had loads of HDD errors on that machine, and I have changed:

1) HDD to another channel
2) Different cable
3) New HDD
4) Different termination settings

all to no avail. The NIC & graphics seem to be OK.

Is there a way to test this unit? I can actually buy a new one to replace, but I'd rather not...

Re: ML330 (G1)

Hi Eugene,

have you tried booting from the server diagnostics diskette?

Apart from that, I can't think of other testing utilities. Have you updated to the latest BIOS?
