ML330 G2 500Gb Drive Install RAID

I am attempting to install a pair of 500Gb ATA drives in a ML330 G2 as RAID 1 on a 5i controller. Upon running the RAID array configure utility, the drives show up as 131Gb drives. I ran the Firmware upgrade utility and it (and BIOS) is up to date. Is this possible or are the drives just too big?

I want to mirror the 2 drives so it appears as a single 500Gb drive (actually, a 40Gb OS partition and the remainder as a data drive)

SA 5i controller as ATA. are you sure, because i have not used 5i with ata drives.

Upon further inspection, I guess its just the ATA RAID controller and not the 5i (which is SCSI)

The drives are probably connected to integrated ATA controller supporting RAID 0, 1, & 1+ 0

There are only 40GB & 80GB ATA drives on a supported option list, so I would guess 500GB ones might be just too big, or the problem is due to the fact they are not HP drives (are they?)
