ML330 G3 -- USB 1.1, 64-bit PCI

Despite specifications (in various places) saying the motherboard has two USB 2.0 ports, Windows Server 2003 reports that my customer's HP ProLiant ML330 G3 has two USB 1.1 ports.

I tried to add an interface card to acquire USB 2.0 -- but the card was a standard 32-bit PCI card (short-long-short connectors), and the motherboard has 64-bit PCI (long-short-long-short slots), so the card could not be installed.

Does anyone know of a PCI adapter card which has USB 2.0 ports that is compatible with the ML330 G3?

I need this so the backups (which are taking over 20 hours to run, for approx 70GB of data) will complete faster. The backups are going (via USB) to an Iomega 750GB external hard drive, which has USB 2.0, Fireware 400, and Firewire 800 connections.

If there is no such adapter card available, what would be a better way to backup this system? (Maximum time for backup cannot exceed 10 hours for 70GB.)

Re: ML330 G3 -- USB 1.1, 64-bit PCI

I have just ordered a SIIG 3-Port FireWire (2-800/1-400) & 5-Port USB 2.0 PCI Host Adptr RoHS, part # NN-8US212-S2. It is supposed to be Universal PCI, for both 3.3V and 5V, and for both 32-bit and 64-bit.

I purchased it online, from www.provantage.com -- but there are several sellers of this.

I will update on the success or failure.

The SIIG card worked like a charm!

I now have an Iomega 750GB external hard drive connected via FireWire 800. When the same drive was connected via the built-in USB 1.1 ports, it took over 26 hours to back up 60GB of data. Now it does the job in 4 hours.

Re: ML330 G3 -- USB 1.1, 64-bit PCI

I am trying to do same on HP Proliant ML330 G3.

I've tried several USB universal adapter cards.

They appear in the device mgr OK, but everytime I turn on the external USB drive..
Error warnings pop up
Hi speed USB device plugged into non highspeed USB Port.

Any ideas, thoughts on this.

THanks
