ML330 G3, enclosure, cable, POST 1775 error

Hi!

I came up with an older server which had severe HDD issues. It consists from 3x HDD 32GB @ 15k rpm non-hot plug and 1x internal super storage.

first configration based on Smart Array 641 but than I replaced it with 6400 for two separate ID channels...

all three HDDs were replaced including SCSI cable.

now, I just can't get it to work. I'm constantly getting POST errors like 1775 (I've tested with both controllers). I tried re-terminating HDDs, changing positions, removing storage tape, etc...

Firmwares are up-to-date. Now, I think it is important to mention that if I connect only two or one HDD it is partialy working. ACU detects one or both HDDs, but there's no formula.

I even checked power supply (measured it) and it's in perfect shape. I desperate...

thanks!

Might be a stupid question but do you have a cache module on the controlleR?
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary, is that little extra.

Re: ML330 G3, enclosure, cable, POST 1775 error

hi, thanks for the reply.

smart array 641 doesn't have one.
and 6400 has one...

the next thing i came up with is that if connect only one drive, it's found and recongized. as soon as i connect two or more drives, inicialization fails.

non hot-plug system doesn't have backplane so it should be cable (replaced) or termination (double checked)... can't think of anything else :(

Both drives are working fine?
Can they both be found if you try them 1 by one?
Are both disks supported in server?
Got another server you can try controller in?
Controller is one of these?
Smart Array 6402/128 Controller 7
273915-B21
Smart Array 6404/256 Controller 7
273914-B21

Are the harddrives jumped properly?

Since they are not hotplug maybe you need to set the jumpers properly on them?

Re: ML330 G3, enclosure, cable, POST 1775 error

i resolwed the case. i re-checked the SCSI IDs and went from 1-4 instead from 0-3. when 1-4 works and 0-3 doesn't!

thanks for the teaser to re-check it again!
