ML330 IDE RAID
ML330 server with IDE RAID on two 80 gig HDD. Running MS W2K SBS.
Frequent "data corruption" errors writting large .TIF files to the hard drives.
Is this a known problem?
Is there a fix for it?
Will moving to SCSI controller and drives solve this?
Will a Adaptec 29160 work well in the ML330?

Re: ML330 IDE RAID
You would be moving closer to the solution by using SCSI Drives.
SCSI Drives are able to write simultaniously on the data channel whereas IDE can have timing errors. Though you will still be using a software (O/S controled) based RAID, you could get a RAID controler as well as SCSI drives.
If you do not want to buy a HP/Compaq RAID controller, addaptec makes a compatable RAID controler (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/product/prodtechindex.html?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=%2fTechnology%2fRAID ) which may be less expensive and serve the purpose you need. Using SCSI based RAID allows you to utilize other RAID configurations as well, other than mirrored.
A RAID controler will also likely have a memory cache to help with the reads and writes to the array.
Hope this helps.
