ML330 Teaming fails ... kinda

I want to use a 2nd NIC for teaming ... TLB with fault tolerance.

When I attempt to team the NC3163 with a NC3121 I installed this weekend, I get an error when I try to save the configuration.

INetCfg::Apply Failed: 0x4a020.

After reboot, the team shows up as a network connection (Win2003 Svr), and status is: Network cable unplugged. HP Net Config Utility does not show this (team) connection. I loaded up about five teams that W2003 saw but HP Net Config couldn't before realizing this was going on.

I tried combinations of the latest and previous versions of NIC and HP Net Config Utility to no avail.

Any thoughts? ideas? suggestions?

Hi Jay:

DON'T use Inetcfg when you have teaming enabled under Netware.

Cannot use Inetcfg

Best regards,

Tarek.

I'm not using NetWare. The box is running Windows 2003 Server and connecting to a TCP/IP network. Is there something I'm (not) checking in the configuration Utility?

Okay Jay:

here is what I would do in that case.
Note: before uninstalling nic drivers; download two links below to desktop.

1- unindatall HP network configurations
from network properties.
2- uninstall TCP /IP
3- uninstall the nic drivers (remove from device manager)

4- Reboot
5- apply latest nic drivers
6- Install TCP/IP
7- install latest Network and teaming configurations.

Re: ML330 Teaming fails ... kinda

Your proposed solution seems to have solved the problem. It has been up successfully configured after following the steps. I will monitor it and see if it works (or increases the connection speed). Something I didn't think to consider, but one of my NICs was static and the other was DHCP. I don't know if this may have contributed to the failed configuration.
