ML330 server Beeping ?

We have a couple of New (ish) under one year old ML330 servers, one of which beeps occassionaly sometime for a few minutes, it sounds almost random.... what does the beeping mean ?

Re: ML330 server Beeping ?

Maybe its a piece of software that does that.
If you have a RAID controller, it could be that it is trying to tell you that the RAID array is degraded.

Re: ML330 server Beeping ?

Sure! ACU --> u can find the FW from SA Controller, also check more infos, if any issue is visible.

OR

SMH --> Insight Diagnostic --> Survey (all infos viewable)

Re: ML330 server Beeping ?

IML has no current errors - the last being 24/1/2006

The last firmware updates i did were patch numbers 6 months ago

psp-7.40.w2k3.i386.exe
CP005953.exe
CP006010.exe

HP proliant ML350 (sorry my mistake) i believe generation 4, but i don't know if 4 or 4p

Smart aray driver version 5.68.0.32

The beep sound is not regular, i have just stood and waited for 10 mins and nothign happened but earlier this morning it beeped a contant tone for a second, maybe two.

HOw can i determine which version of the ML350 i have to ensure i get the correct firmware update. Which formware update do i down load as several are listed.

Re: ML330 server Beeping ?

go to the SMH (system Management Hompage) choose "Insight Diagnostic", the first page u see is the Survey-Page, there you'll find the Generation from your Server.

Be sure to update to PSP 7.51, and flash the Firmware with FW-CD 7.50

But, i've another question, when did the beep signals occures? during POST or during "normal" runtime?

Re: ML330 server Beeping ?

It beeps during normal operation but very sporadically.

When I click on the HP SMH i agree to use a certificate and then the word ACCOUNT appears across the top of the browser page and nothign happens? any other way of determining the generation number.

Re: ML330 server Beeping ?

Little chance for success. Try disconnect the keyboard. Faulty keyboard may produce sporadic kb buffer overflow.
