ML330 will not shut down

I have a proliant ml330 server tht does not shut down.
It will reboot but not turn off. Even if the on button is held in for over 5 seconds it will still not shut down.
I just updated the bios and that did not help.
The power light turns yellow but the network light stays green and blinks and the cursor is on the screen but the screen is still lit.

Re: ML330 will not shut down

I had a similar problem with a Netserver and the issue was with the NetRaid firmware - you may want to try upgrading the Smart Array controller firmware. If you have a card installed of course, do you have any other hardware attached? USB / Storage or anything? USB keys can do this.

Failing that I would try that server reset with the jumpers on the BackBoard / Motherboard. Its in the manual.

Re: ML330 will not shut down

Ken,

If your server is running 2000/2003 can you check the type of HAL it has loaded.

Right-click on My computer -Manage -Device Manager. Expand the "Computer" icon.

You should have an ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) HAL for proper shutdown purposes and control via the power button.

It's worth checking.
