Re: ML330G3 and SmartArray 642 - can't use F8 to config array
Hi Jon,
Yep, I would expect problems if the cable (part# 166389-B21) is used to connect the SA642 and U320 drives... You may probably be able to carry on using it as non-RAID (can you confirm if you are able to carry-on using the machine, Jon?)...
I deeply believe that you would need the part code 273463-B21 for the SA642. This could explain why the error message about non-recognised enclosure appeared at bootup... You certainly will need it for RAID configuration.
It is very annonying that HP did not specify this extra accessory in the HP website for the SA642 spec/q&a...
Hope this helps!
Gus

Re: ML330G3 and SmartArray 642 - can't use F8 to config array
Hi Gus & Prashant,
Thank you so very much for your kind assistance.
I found out what was the problem - its the keyboard! Boy, was my face red!. After changing the keyboard, i was able to use the F8 key.
Again, appreciate you taking the time out to help me out.
Cheers,
Jon

Arh, well done Sir! Just realised how far away i was with the original question... And now I know this could happens to ProLiant as well (this happens to Dell servers all the time though! I should have thought about this!).
Cheers from now!
Gus
