ML350, CQPONLIN and Netware 6.5 with NSS volumes

We have a HP ML350 running Netware 6.5 with NSS volumes. It is setup with a raid 5 controller and 3 of the 36gig hot swap external drives. I added a 4th drive to the Array, and the array expanded successfully.
However, how when I go into the Netware utility to expand the volumes it fails. I run the NSSMU utility, it sees the new device that was created by adding the drive. However when I try to create the partition it says there is no drive space available. I have not rebooted the server since the drive array successfully expanded, since people are using the server today. I looked with the Cpqonlin utility and it has the new logical drive added to the array and expanded, with 4 drives showing in the array.

You have to enter the device menu in NSSMU and initialize the new disk first.

Initialize the disk after the disk array has been expanded to facilitate the new disk?
Or should I have done that prior to adding it to the array?

Yes, first expand the array and create with cpqonlin a new logical drive, then initialize this disk with F3 in NSSMU.
