ML350 G3 cannot use IDE drive when booting from ghost CD
Why do some if not all HP servers not support IDE hard drives?
Must boot with the ghost CD in order to have full backup. When you do this the IDE drive is not seen because the server does not support IDE hard drives. Very dissappointed that HP does not have some kind of warning to indicate this lack of support when users are buying new servers.
This is especially usefull in the small business environment to recover from disasters.

Re: ML350 G3 cannot use IDE drive when booting from ghost CD
hey man
when ever we buy server we check specs.
It alway stated what server support and upgrades.
NO ONE WITE THIS WILL NOT WORK THAT WILL NOT WORK.
I understand you point and your need. But you expect eacheverthing from a product then you have put your req in front then MATCH.

Re: ML350 G3 cannot use IDE drive when booting from ghost CD
From quick Specification, it's always possibly to verify what hardware Supported.
ML350 G3 considered in fact SCSI based server for Growing businesses, Branch offices and remote sites.
Compare to: ML310 ML330 (Support SATA and IDE)
Ideal for...
Small businesses
Corporate Branch offices that support local users or customers and exchange data with headquarters
Some lower end Servers support SCSI, however starting from model ML350 and up to high End, it considered middle and high class for Business Enterprise, where IDE devices not used widely at all and SCSI take over for Backup devices or data storing. You probably understand that all additional Components or futures that might not be used will raise cost of assembly and final price. How many Customers will try to use IDE hard drive in SCIS based Server - not many: 5% or less?
