ML350 G3 memory

i have a Ml350 G3 server and 2 questions:

1. if i have a 512MB dimm installed today,
can i add 2 256MB dimms (for a total of
1 GB memory) or i have to add a 512 dimm ?

2. can i set 2-wat interleaving on this
server and how ?

Memory can be added one module at a time or in matched pairs to support memory interleave.

In order to use interleaving you would need to have paired banks of memory ie 2X512 then 2X256 .. i think as long as one of those dimms isnt pair memory interleaving will not function

i still didn't understand, if i am not using memory interleaving, can i use different sized dimms ? (512 + 256 + 256)
and how do i set memry interleaving ?

Interleave is enabled automatically if your dimms are paired. IE 512 in slot 1 and 512 in slot 2.

Since you have 512 in slot one and 256 in slot 2 and 256 in slot 3 interleaving will not be enabled.

Also if you were to move the 256s to slot 3 and slot 4 you would still not have interleaving enabled because the 512 dimm does not have another 512 to interleave with.

If you really want to interleave on this server and have 1 gig of ram i would recommend that you get another 512 meg dimm instead of the 2X256s
