ML350 G4 6400 Array no disks detected

I'm trying to set up Windows 2008 on an ML350 G4 with a 6400 array. I am able to use the array utility to create a raid 5 logical disk but when I try to install the OS either using Smartstart (8.30) or the windows disk, no drives are recognized. I've tried installing the drivers as a third party driver in the windows install with no difference. The driver is recognized but again - no disk.
Smartstart displays a jave error when detecting the drive to install the OS to: selectBlockDevice is null.

Can anyone help?

Out of curiosity, do you have any USB devices plugged in like a USB Memory Stick or USB hard drive or anything like that?

I have experienced major problems detecting drives to install Windows 2008 on when USB memory sticks are involved....

Have you set the 6400 as boot controller?

That is if you want to boot from it.

Boot controller it is. I couldn't find anywhere in smartstart to set the boot controller but if I run the array config from the boot screen, there it is.

Thanks for the help. It is much appreciated.
