ML350 G4p SATA drives

I've just started to setup this ML350 G4p.
It has SCSCI controller with 2 drive mirroring.
There is also a SATA controller on the MB. When I plug in a SATA drive, Windows, and BIOS don't detect it.
Question, does anyone know if there is something with this server model where you can't use SATA drive and SCSI controller at the same time.
Any suggestions welcomes

Re: ML350 G4p SATA drives

Hello stobys,

Both SATA or Scsi hot plug disks need drive cage and backplane.
I have'nt seen a server which has both and ideally you would have only Scsi or only Sata.
Few instances i have seen Scsi and Ide or Sata and Ide mix.

Re: ML350 G4p SATA drives

Hi Sandeep,

thanks for the reply.
Just to make clear. We've picked a model with a Scsi Smart Array capability. Installed the Two scsi drives into the drive bays and configured them as Raid 1.

As a backup, I'd like to install the SATA drive, as the Mother board provides two intergrated controllers.

Should I conclude that if you pick to install SCSI drives, then you cannot use the intergrated SATA controllers?
thanks again for any help

Re: ML350 G4p SATA drives

Yes you can say that.
Btw,whats the product number of the server?

I have seen servers which say Scsi model or Sata model separately.

Re: ML350 G4p SATA drives

thanks. It seems you have two choices
SCSI and SATA, once you pick SCSI then SATA is not supported on the MB..
