I have a ML350 G5 with a 3GHz dual core Xeon and 1 Gig of memory that anytime I enter the ROM-based setup utility it locks up, I have to just power it down. It used to be my exchange server but I replaced it and it has been powered down since (3 months-ish). When I powered it back up one of the power supplies was dead so I replaced it with an OEM from HP. It's always been plugged into a UPS/surge. Anyone have any ideas what I could try? Thanks.

Solution
Is it only in BIOS? It doesn't freeze up anywhere else?
Maybe if you run the smartstart cd diagnostics/some memory/cpu tests that could give you a hint. Checked out the BIOS fw upgrades?
Why not try to remove as much as possible like dimms/cpus/pci cards/hdds/controller anything and then see if it freezes in BIOS?

Re: ML350 G5 BIOS locks up
I forgot I had added an Adaptec SCSI card for the tape backup. Everything else is onboard. Pulled that SCSI card and it solved the issue. Thanks.
