ML350 G5 and problematic E200i
I have ML350 G5 with integrated E200i ctrl with four 72GB SAS drives.
First problem, like E200i self test error in POST and after server was down about 24 hours and when i went on costumer site firts i try to reconnect all external and internal cables, then i boot up server and everything was ok!
Logical volume, RAID 5 was there and system boot up.
Then i start Smart Start diag v8.10 with all posible test and ofcourse everything was ok.
Except, when i try to test logical volume within Online Insight Diagnostics then I got error on physical disk 3 that drive should be replaced. Only drive in bay 3.
Ok, but after that I try to do again same thing and guest what.
Error was now on all drives. That means that rely on Online Insight diag and logical volume test that I have now four disk that i should replace.
Than I build PSP on v8.10 and update fw on board and e200i to top new version and try again.
But result was same.
Now, I don't get it.
What is right, SMART START which is PASSED all test and telle me that i don;t have HW problem or Online Insight Diagnostic, precicly logical volume tets which tell me that i must change all drives.
Is this posible?
Seems to me that i must replace motherboard or HP have a new bug in tools?
Please, if you have answer help me to solve strange situatioin.
System now working correctly but i don't know is this right.
Kind regards,
Predrag

Re: ML350 G5 and problematic E200i
Smart Start is v8.10 and FW CD is v8.2.
I was build up new fw for board and ctrl.
So, I can tell you that fw are fairly new, maybe up to date, i don't know, i don't have yet new SS and FW CD.
I'm sending you diag results, but in *.txt!
Thanks Karlo!

Re: ML350 G5 and problematic E200i
it is the same error here
http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/publicProfile.do?userId=WW41112&forumId=1
but no worries
if you see that guy replaced lot of parts same result
the point is
that is FALSE ERROR but never had the time to tell that guy that I mean I found some time later that that
"Drive has reported a DST error" and "... and HDD needs to be replaced"
are completely FALSE ERROR
it been a while Insight Diagnostic reports that error and there is no need to replace parts since you'd be wasting your time and your money
just get the latest driver / Firmware and no worries
bye

Re: ML350 G5 and problematic E200i
thank for this link, helps me in some way.
But, as you know, this is not pleasant event.
Because costumer could always said that he has a problem:)
It would be the best if HP published the official document.
KR Karlo, thanks,
Predrag
