ML350 G5 low performance with E200i (single drive)
I got myself a ProLiant ML350 server equipped with an embedded 200i raid controller but I'm pretty disappointed with the onboard SAS/SATA controller's performance.
Since I don't plan to use RAID (it's just a home server sitting in the attic) i connected a single SSD drive (120GB Adata S511) to use it for the operating system but i'm getting horrible speeds in HDTune.
The cache battery is empty so it has no write back cache enabled but would it cause such a major problem? The normal speed of my SSD is around 275MB/s on a normal SATAII controller.
Thank you in advance!
By the way: is there any workaround to enable wb cache even if the battery isn't good anymore? Can I use my SSD drive without the E200i making it a "HP Logic Array"?

No, that will enable data loss if there is ever a power failure.

Thank you for your reply, what do you think about the performance - is it normal for this controller?

You cannot passthrough an SSD without using an HBA i'm afraid.
