Are you able to access the RAID TUI menu and see the individual physical volumes, as well as the Logical volume that you defined?

The error [appears to] indicate a failed SCSI/AHCI request to a physical voluime.

Also, where did you find a G5 that still boots?  On loan from the Smithsonian Institute?  The drives may not be backward compatible to 3GBPs:

Re: ML350 G5 with an Smart Array E200 fails

Having the same issues here.

We have a HP DL380G5 with an E200 controller.

The system previously had 4x 72GB 10G SAS drives  in it and we wanted to upgrade the capacity. Checking on the drive compatibility for both the DL380G5 and the E200 they both say they support the following part number:

507127-B21: 300G 10K SAS 2.5" DP 6.0Gbps

We ordered 4 of the drives however when we install them into the system the contoller reports:

1783-Slot 3 Drive Array Controller Failure!

             [Command failure (cmd=11h, err=020h, dlu=01AC:0h)]

The HP ACU then no longer shows a controller.

We put the original drives back in and there are no issues. Was anyone able to find a solution to this?

Regards,

Re: ML350 G5 with an Smart Array E200 fails

Dear Toby Martin,

we habe excatly the same issue here (we added two new drives with 600 GB). After powering down the server and unplug the power cords the server starts with the new drives (the most times). The server then runs without any issues to the next (soft) reboot. On the next restart the error is back.

Did you find a solution?

Re: ML350 G5 with an Smart Array E200 fails

I had same problem.

HDD firmware update solved this problem!!!

We have 2x72 GB SAS and 2x146GB SAS and bought a new 1x300GB SAS (507127-TV1).

If I plug in the new hdd the controller started with error message " 1783 Slot 0 Drive Array Controller Failure ...."

I unplugged and started the server when the windows was started logged in and plug in the new hdd and configured with ACU.

Restarted the system and received a message from the array controller "disk drive firmware update recommended .... model DG146ABAB4 minimum version =HPDA "

I had to upgrade the 146Gb hdd's firmware.

Now working..

Sorry for my English

I hope you understand me

Re: ML350 G5 with an Smart Array E200 fails

I have the same problem. Server: ML350 G5 with E200i SAS controller.

With 2 old drives: 2x72GB (DG072BB975)

We bought 2 new drivers 300GB SAS (model 507127-TV1): EG300FBVFL

Now, when new drives ar added, server hangs on bios boot screen with error (see print screen).

As we have not extended server warranty subscription, we cannot require support from HP to fix this. But I have received answer from HP support assistant, that it is firmware problem. And "most probably" will be updated un the future.

I have, of course, upgraded every possible firmware on this server. Do not know - if the downgrade could help...

I have manage (only with some voodoo ....) to boot server with new drives 1 time, and even configure mirror from Windows GUI, but then it hanged with BSOD.

This is quite critical for me and for others as well - server is not so bad and old, to have such upgrade problems.

I have working system on this, should it help, to change ports, - put the new ones in 0,1 port, and old ones in 2-3? Any ideas?

Or someone have active extended warranty from HP to request fix for firmware?

What version is on the disks?

HPD8 or HPD9?
