ML350 G6 How long to build a RAID Array?

Brand new ML350 G6 470065-163. Xeon 5504 (2000/800-4MB) Quad Core. P410i/256MB, batt module and SAAP licence.

RAID 6 using 6 x 146GB 10K 2.5” HP SAS drives 507125-B21. 12GB RAM. MS Small Business Server std 2008.

After about 30hrs the diagnostics showed it was 14% complete. At this rate it will take about a week! Is this correct?

The drives don’t seem to “clatter” as I have become accustomed to with SCSI. Our am I getting paranoid?

Thanks and Rgds

Re: ML350 G6 How long to build a RAID Array?

The average rebuild rate for failed/replaced disks is 15min per GB.

It appears this is the case for building a new array as well. I expected the P410i to be somewhat faster.
You should have bought 15k drives (Unless you already had the 10k ones).

Change the array build priority to high in ACU, it might speed up thing a little bit.

Also check how fast the 14% gets updated in ACU.
