ML350 (ML 350) G4 Memory Brands

Our G4 came with a single 1GB stick of HP memory. Can we add a single stick from another brand (Kingston), or do we need the same brands of sticks?

Both Memories in slot 1 and 2, should be the same model. Make sure the kingston Memory is a PC2700 1GB. It might work even though is not recommended. My advise is to get an HP Memory

We'll give the Kingston stick a try in slot 2. After installed, will we need to change the BIOS to recognize it?

no changes is BIOS only luck to get it recognized

Well, I had no luck mixing the HP and Kingston sticks. With the HP in slot one and the Kingston in slot two, the server would not boot.

However, moving the Kingston to slot three, the server recognized 2056MB of ram, but then froze. I let it sit for 10 minutes thinking it needed to reconfigure, then I gave up. Guess I'll return the Kingston and purchase an HP stick.
